Sopore, Jan 07 (KNO): A public convenience in Sopore opened a few months ago has been closed in the face of water scarcity. Residents told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) toilets have been locked for the last eight days as it lacks water facility. The most affected are women and children as there is no toilet facility in the town. Director ULB Kashmir, Mathoora Masoom told KNO that she is not aware about the issue and will look into it. She assured the issue will be resolved at the earliest. An official at Jal Shakti department Sopore told KNO that the washroom block is without a proper agreement for water connection. "We had provided them with a water facility on a temporary basis on their request for an inaugural ceremony,” the official said. Municipal Committee President Masarat Kar denied washrooms are shut for lack of water facility for the last eight days saying they are shut for the last three days due to freezing of water pipes. On the agreement issue, she said that the Jal Shakti department has not informed them about it—(KNO)
